3 cups Alfalfa sprouts
1/3 cup Sunflower seeds
1/4 cup Sprouted lentils (or 1/2 cup just mung beans, no lentils)
1/4 cup Mung bean sprouts
3 tbsp Almond butter
1 tbsp Kelp
1 tsp Organic virgin olive oil or Bragg Liquid Aminos
1/2 cup Onions or spring onions for a softer flavour
2 stalks Celery
3 sheets Nori seaweed
2 tsp Lemon juice
1 tsp Himalayan Salt

Place 2-3 cups of alfalfa in a bowl and put aside.

In a food processor, combine sunflower seeds, almond butter, olive oil or Bragg Liquid Aminos, kelp, mung beans and lentils and blend until smooth.

Add in the onion, celery and lemon juice and pulse chop until onion and celery are blended but still chunky.

Lay out one Nori sheet onto a bamboo sushi matt with shiny side down. Spread about 2 cups of the paste evenly over the nori and leave a 1 inch space at the edge of the nori.

Roll sushi until the edge of the nori is placed under the sushi.

Shape the roll by pressing lightly with both hands.

Back pain is a very common condition and can affect adults of all ages.

It is estimated that one in five people will visit their GP in any given year because of back pain. And 80% of adults will experience at least one episode of back pain at some point in their life.

Chronic back pain is less common than acute back pain, but it is still very widespread. In England, chronic back pain is the second most common cause of long-term disability (after arthritis). After stress, it is the leading cause of long-term work-related absence. A recent study found that one in every 10 people reported having some degree of chronic back pain.

Psychological and social factors play an important role in the expected outlook for back pain, particularly for chronic back pain.

For example, people who have a positive frame of mind and report enjoying a good quality of life tend to make a faster recovery than those who report symptoms of depression and are unhappy with one or more aspects of their life.

Treatment options for back pain include painkillers, spinal manipulation, acupuncture and exercise classes

A classic phrase used in yoga is that "you are as young as the spine is flexible." Flexibility and suppleness of the spine throughout life is considered essential for true health. It is a sign of health and youth regardless of age, just as a stiffening spine is a sign of poor health and aging.

Children naturally have spines that are elastic. But resilience is lost over time as children grow older unless they properly exercise. Youthful flexibility of the spine can be regained however even for much older people with enough patience, determination and regular practice of yoga.

The spine can respond remarkably quickly to yoga stretching movements, allowing it to elongate over just a few weeks practice.

Another belief of yoga is that much untapped energy lies dormant within the spine. Many yoga exercises are designed to bring this energy to life to become available to the body.

You should seek advice from your GP about back pain and attend a Yoga class with a fully qualified instructor.

Interestingly my thoughts on this is I wonder if we should be encouraging parents to talk to their children about the positive benefits of doing something like Yoga, drinking the occasional healthy vegetable or fruit juice, in the hope that this will plant a more positive outlook on what is good for us rather than what is potentially very harmful.

See the full Article here.

What are your thoughts, should we allow our children to try alcohol, if so when and do we need to have a conversation with them about it?

“Liquid Ways to Lasting Wellbeing”

I hope you are all well. I have been away up in North India relaxing and discovering many new things next to the Ganga river

India is most incredible. At every moment of every day all you gotta do is look around and you will see something totally crazy and off the wall is going on, or maybe you will see many things that deeply make you aware of the richness of life, the beauty of humanity and the simple fact that dignity has no preconditions. Have you ever thought you would like to discover this mystical land for yourself. Do let me know if so. Maybe I can help you get a start here. I so highly recommend it I cannot say.

I’d like to share with you some of what I found on my trips, with new interesting purchases and deep spiritual learnings that I would like to honour you with.

On 25th March to 28th March

What type of Yoga?

Many types of yoga are available and you really ought to select the one that you think will give you the most benefits for what you are trying to accomplish. There is a main thread to all types of Yoga. All the numerous styles of yoga will all the time aim to create a serene feeling as well as achieving an overall balance in the psyche and body. In the majority of cases, Yoga will also help you to increase flexibility and improve fitness levels at the same time. What a lot of people rate as the most extreme sort of yoga is Bikram yoga where the routines are performed in heated rooms. For some people this can add tension to their exercises and for that reason there are many who believe that performing under those conditions is detrimental to your health. For the people who use the Bikram yoga on a regular basis they believe that the increased temperatures helps to relax and cleanse their body and in doing so give them more benefits over the standard forms of yoga. The most common type of yoga that you will find used in the majority of centers throughout your country is Hatha Yoga. This is probably the best kind of yoga for you to pick if you haven't done any variety of this exercise in the past. It will teach you all the obligatory types of poses that will also be applicable to various other forms of yoga if you intend to move into these other types at a later date. It is excellent for people who haven't done any exercise previously and for elderly people as all the movements are slow and relaxing and will aid in helping you to gather more flexibility without concern for injury. One step up from Hatha Yoga is Vinyasa yoga which is performed at a faster speed and focuses a lot on breathing throughout the movements. The stretches that are used in Vinyasa yoga are more sophisticated than those in Hatha yoga and are possibly not nearly as appropriate for a novice. Ashtanga Yoga which is from time to time also known as Power Yoga and is regarded as the favoured option of athletes. Ashtanga yoga is not focused entirely on meditation but is centered more on developing strength and stamina. In order to gain strength and flexibility, the poses are often regarded as more difficult and the speed to change poses is increased. This style is suitable for anyone in fair physical shape but should be avoided by those who are new to exercise. Even the "beginners" routines are a physically demanding workout. You normally begin Ashtanga yoga with a warming up of the body. Kundalini Yoga, combines mantras (chanting), meditations, visualizations, and controlled relaxation. It focuses on healing and "cleansing" the mind, body, and emotions. Kundalini yoga is designed to trigger the Kundalini energy in the spine. This is achieved with poses, breath control, chanting, and meditation. Kundalini yoga is advantageous in dealing with addictions, and a lot of people find it to be a natural way of releasing endorphins just by breathing and doing the poses.
